Dendrofile ยท who it is for

Software for consulting arborists

Most tree software is made for cities or for tree-care crews. Dendrofile is made for the arborist who walks a site, measures the trees and writes the report.

Made on real consulting jobs

Dendrofile was built inside Community Forest Solutions, a consulting arborist practice in Portland, Oregon, and tested on its jobs before anyone else saw it. Ruth Williams, an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, is its first user.

What a consulting arborist needs

  • Trees collected in the field with no signal.
  • A tree table, a site map and root protection zones in a report that looks like yours.
  • Every job's trees kept in one place, and kept apart from other arborists' trees.

How it differs from other tree software

City and campus inventory platforms are hosted databases and maps for large tree populations, priced by the year and built for a forestry department. They suit 10,000 street trees. They are not built around one client's report.

Tree-care business software schedules crews, sends proposals and bills customers, with a tree map added on. It suits a company that prunes and removes trees. It does not write a consulting arborist's report.

General GIS field apps collect points well and can be set up for trees, with the price and setup work of GIS software. They give you no arborist report.

What Dendrofile does not do

It does not schedule crews, run a customer list or replace a city's inventory. It does not do your books. If you need one of those, use a tool built for it and use Dendrofile for the field and the report.
