Dendrofile ยท questions
Dendrofile FAQ: offline use, devices, reports and data
Short answers to what an arborist asks before trying a new tool.
Does Dendrofile work without a signal?
Yes. The site plan, the aerial photo and the tree list go with you. You collect trees with no connection and bring the job home in one step.
Which devices does it run on?
A Windows laptop or tablet, or an iPad, iPhone or Android tablet using QField, the free field app from the app stores. One account works on the web and in the field. There is no hardware to buy.
Who makes Dendrofile?
Community Forest Solutions, a consulting arborist practice in Portland, Oregon. It was built on Ruth Williams' own jobs and is sold by her practice.
How is the report made?
Dendrofile opens a draft of your report with the tree table, the site map and a root protection zone for each tree already filled in. You read it, change it and send it. Dendrofile drafts; you send.
Can it use my own report template?
Yes. The draft is written into your template, so it keeps your wording, your tables and your name on it.
How is the root protection zone calculated?
From each tree's trunk diameter, by the common rule of one foot of radius for each inch of diameter. The zone is drawn on the site map for you to check.
Does it know my city's tree rules?
Portland-area tree rules come built in. Anywhere else, enter your city's rules once and every draft uses them.
Whose trees and data are these?
Yours. Your trees stay apart from every other arborist's trees, every change to a tree can be undone, and you can export every tree, photo and note at any time.
Is Dendrofile a tree-care business tool?
No. It does not schedule crews or run a customer list. It collects trees and drafts the report a consulting arborist hands the client.
What does it cost?
$99 a month, or $999 a year, which saves $189. One plan has every feature for every job.
How do I pay?
By card, monthly or yearly. There is one plan, so there is no tier to choose and no feature held back.
How do I get an invite?
Email [email protected] with your name, your city and the device you use in the field. Ruth Williams, whose jobs it was built on, will reply.
